DVDs offering instruction in Namaste yoga are very popular all throughout exercise and fitness sections of electronic shops. While yoga is likely a term you’ve heard before, the first part, namaste, might be foreign to you.

Before we get to a definition of namaste yoga, you need to be aware that not all systems of yoga are the same. This does not mean that some forms of yoga are better than others. This is a personal decision that only you can make based on your personal likes and dislikes. This is simply written to make you aware of the fact that there are different styles of yoga out there. Each style has its own special methodology.

Among the various schools of yoga thought and study methods, namaste yoga is a term that has been adopted to describe a school of thought when it comes to teaching yoga.

What Does It Mean

In the Indian language, Namaste means “I bow to you”. It’s considered to be a form of respect and is usually said to one person from another while bringing one’s hands together in a steeple position and bowing. It is typically said during the beginning and end of a yoga class. Even in Western yoga classes this method is used as a way to maintain a connection to the spiritual roots and origins of yoga.

When you see all those namaste yoga videos, most will feature a collection of basic yoga exercises. These exercises are meant to introduce newbies to the art of yoga. Most of the exercises on namaste yoga videos are simple exercises almost anyone can do without the supervision of an instructor. This does not mean that you don’t ever need an instructor to learn yoga. But these videos are a great resource for those who have no access to an instructor. The namaste yoga DVDs are a useful resource for learning the art.

If you choose to take on yoga as an exercise form, you are making a wise choice. Yoga offers many physical benefits. But if you would like to get the full benefit of yoga, it’s always a good idea to know the historical and cultural aspects of this art, as the name namaste infers. And these should be considered.
